I did it, and am proud to say, did a darn good job. Brad went back to work yesterday morning after being home for the past week with his new family. As he was saying his good byes, I got a little teary, but held it together and knew I had to conquer this 1st time challenge.
The boys did GREAT. Matthew decided to nap at all the correct times and Sam decided he was going to be a good boy the entire day. Of course, the phone calls I got in between the day disrupted him a little bit but all in all he did well.
there are a few things that are totally opposite of my two children that I would like to document.
1. Sam NEVER liked to be swaddled, Matthew-Can't NOT be swaddled when he is sleeping. This swaddling technique has helped us through 2 GREAT nights of sleeping.
2. Sam NEVER liked to be held in the upright position against my shoulder. Matthew-LOVES to be near and dear to our beating hearts.
3. Sam would NEVER fall asleep on his own, Matthew-loves to lay in his crib swaddled so tight that he can hardly move his little toes awake to fall asleep.
4. Sam LOVED his bottles, Matthew-prefers the breast and will take a bottle if he is starving.
I know it's hard NOT to compare children, but it truly amazes me how different they really are. I know Matthew is still a little guy, but looking at him daily really reminds me of newborn Sam, just a petite portion.
And the BEST part about my 1st day alone...we ALL napped for 2 hours together!!!!!! Sam (of course) woke us ALL up...and then (I will add a little negativity) everyone needed something at once....2 poopy diapers, 2 starving children, and one half asleep mom really made for a exciting 20 minutes!
However, WE DID IT!!! Tomorrow's challenge, to have dinner ready when Daddy comes home.
